Educational Sustainability

Updated: Apr 15, 2020

Menstrual products have a big impact in the environment. Pad requires about 500-800 years decomposing.

The first cotton tampon was introduced in the 1940s and they still carry health risks such as toxic shock syndrome as well as exposure to harmful chemicals like bleach and glyphosate.

“It is imperative that the college support environmental projects and provide information to the community by funding educational and ecological ideas that can change social environment.”

Sustainable Menstrual products Project

According to Hannahpad, the average woman will spend $3,200 on one time use feminine products. This subject could be a delicate matter but a very important subject for the environment. To provide knowledge for young women that they can save the planet and be healthy at the same time, it is a smart idea for this project.

This project helped students from Ashtonbee and Progress Campus to understand and reflect on the use of menstrual products and their impact on the environment. With the budget, we could buy several sustainable menstrual products and distribute to the students on this both campus and also provided educational knowledge about the topic.
